Part-Time (Th, F 10am-2pm and Events) Box Office

General Description:

The box office representative is the front line of customer service to the community. Primary duties include customer service, ticket sales, telephone and walk up inquiries, and front of house operations. Additional responsibilities include assisting in marketing and sales, artist gallery, hospitality, and special events.

  • Assists with ticket sales via phone, walk up and online.
  • Fields patron inquiries
  • Markets season tickets & performances in community
  • Maintain and update customer database
  • Assists with social media initiatives (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
  • Assists with distributing promotional material throughout community
  • Assists with coordinating community-based promotions and special events
  • Serves as a City Opera House representative at community events

    Candidate must possess: strong customer service skills and aptitude for computers; dynamic phone skills; ability to handle multiple tasks at once; comfortable working independently and as a team; interest in performing arts and special events; self-motivation and a positive attitude; enjoy working in a fast paced, changing environment; flexible schedule including nights & weekends, & some holidays.

    Part-Time Building Set Up Person

    City Opera House is seeking an energetic part-time hourly employee that can assist with the physical set-up needs for events. The ideal candidate would also have some stage technology background.

    The position involves the following:

  • Assist with physical event set-ups, (changing the main floor from all chairs to tables and chairs)
  • Assist with building custodial needs
  • Assists with general cleaning as needed
  • Monitors restrooms and areas used during events for cleanliness, re-stocking supplies as needed
  • Has knowledge in theatre stagecraft
  • Assists with show load-in/strike and set up, (moving equipment boxes)
  • Spotlight operation
  • Assists technical director with show & event support of stage equipment
  • Hours will vary and will include late nights, weekends and occasional holidays
  • Position involves some heavy lifting
  • Hourly rate is dependent on skillset

    Part-Time House Manager

    City Opera House is seeking one or two part-time house managers. Oversees all front of house activities, first contact with volunteer ushers, provides ushers/security meetings prior to events. Ensures the safety and security of patrons and staff. Assists with post show clean up. Trouble shooting and problem solving skills are needed.

    This position involves the following:

  • Oversees front of house activities for events
  • Reviews COH work orders, for specific event details
  • Coordinates user and security meeting pre-show
  • Responds to patron’s concerns as necessary or directs them to who can respond.
  • Ensures ADA requirements are met or refers to appropriate staff
  • Lead ushers post-show on lost & found check, turn in all items to main office with seat number or area found (balcony or main floor, orchestra right or left)
  • Assist as needed on set-up and strike of events (peel seat numbers off seats, stack chairs, etc.)
  • Completes house report at end of show, indicating any issues that need to be resolve.
  • Gather bar totals and food counts when applicable
  • Responsible to complete patron injury report and address situation at the time, or request staff assistance
  • Monitors cleanliness of restrooms and re-stocks as necessary during the event
  • Hours will vary and will include late nights, weekends and occasional holidays
